Abstract
The accuracy of radiocarbon dating is discussed, including errors associated with the sample and its environment. Facts of high costs, limited facilities, and delays in results are considered. Attention is drawn to the facts that discrepanices relative to calendar dates impose restrictions on accuracy but do not invalidate the method and that the liquid scintillation technique provides increased output of dates compared with the proportional gas count ing technique with no reduction in accuracy. -- AATA
