Abstract
Preservation of the Navy's inactive ships under the so-called mothballing program involved a number of techniques - of which dehumidification is one of the most (if not the most) important. This authoratative article reviews the results, shows that the program has paid off. It suggests also that there may be many other applications of the same idea in industry.
