Abstract
Considered are the basic arguments for the introduction of technical matters into art historical studies. Comments are given on particular factors that may influence the final effect of such teaching. This includes problems of the duration of the course, the proper selection and presentation of material, the proper teacher, and the program itself. The paper is based on the author's own experience in this field.
