Abstract
The region of South, South East and East Asia is rich in archaeological monuments. There are archaeological departments in almost all the countries, but there are many problems. Various public and official attitudes affect conservation. Facilities for scientific conservation are now developing. In Japan and India, Conservation Laboratories have long existed. In some other countries they are now developing. Thailand showsprogress towards developing a Scientific Conservation Laboratory. The article describes conservation facilities in Pakistan, Ceylon, Taiwan, Khamer Republic, Korea, Vietnam, Singapore and Hongkong. See also <i>AATA 12-48. -- AATA
