Abstract
The Committee was formed in response to concern among members of the United Kingdom Group that conservation facilities in museums and similar institutions were inadequate, and that the situation was worsening. Its report is based on two detailed questionnaires sent to: all directors of museums and other institutions holding collections of exhibitable material (but excluding private collections) in the U. K. and every conservator employed by such an institution. A high percentage of both questionnaires was returned. The report contains a full discussion and analysis of the data from the questionnaires, and the Sub-Committee's recommendations for the future. -- AATA
