Abstract
The Ancient Monument Preservation Act in Nepal was passed in 195657. The Guthi Samsthan (Religous Endowment Corporation) along with the technical support of Department of Archaeology is responsible for the preservation of monuments. A large staff is needed. A priority list of monuments should be worked out; repair work should be phased. Since most of the monuments in Nepal are wood, preservation is extremely difficult. See also <i>AATA 12-48. -- AATA
