The wall building techniques and structures in the interior of the Roman province of Dalmatia are not essentially different from those on the coast. Stone was most often used for building, but living quarters in the villages were also built of wood and clay. It was customary to employ the material from local sources for construction. Brick was often employed in building hypocaustic installations (suspensurae, tubuli and tubulae mammatae, etc.) and floors. -- AATA
