The crack propagation in shearing is studied by numerical and experimental methods. The finite element method is used to confirm a shearing test well fitted to an orthotropic elestic body as wood. The critical stresses (mode II) and the energy restored in cracking (shearing mode RL and TL) are measured on pine. (Pin maritime Pinus pinaster - cam. : Pinus maritima).
