Abstract
Low molecular weight hydrocarbon resins have recently become available to conservators, offering potential use as varnishes for paintings. A study of one of these resins, Arkon P-90, is presented in this paper. Arkon P-90 was evaluated for its physical and optical properties. Comparative data was collected from samples of dammar and Laropal K-80 resins. The optical performance of Arkon P-90 was found to be comparable to both the natural resin and ketone resin.
