Abstract
The author discusses a document published by Hubert Wilm, Die gotische Holzfigur, Ihr Wesen und ihre Entstehung/Gothic wood sculpture, its character and creation (1944). This document, found in a medieval wooden sculpture, says that the figure has been roasted in an oven after having been put into a cooper. Hasse reads the medieval term gesaden differently from the current interpretation not as put into, but as boiled. Thus he can match this document with Cennini's recipe on boiling wood for leaf ornaments.
