Abstract
Thirteen glow peaks are identified in pink quartz in the range liquid nitrogen temperature (LNT) to 700°C. Order of kinetics for the prominent peaks is investigated from the peak shape and isothermal decay methods and is found to be close to first order, although the numerical value of the parameter is greater than one. Activation energy determined by the initial rise method is found to be lower than that obtained by the peak shape method. The difference between the two values increases with increase in glow peak temperature. This is explained on the basis of thermal quenching.
