Abstract
This report serves as a general guide to techniques and considerations for museum lighting. Since it was written at a time when fluorescent tubes were just introduced and had poor color rendering properties, the emphasis was on incandescent and natural light. Because of this, many of its comments are out date. Nevertheless, some of the suggestions for techniques of illumination are still applicable. No mention is made of the dangers of deterioration from light. There is a bibliography of 28 entries which makes this article a useful historical document of museum lighting around 1940.
