In the Mediterranean areas of France the study of medieval ceramics profited by a renewal in both documentation and methods, this last is particularly appreciable in the field of chronological evolution and origins. The main results which have been obtained involve more especially both the evolution of technics and style in the regional manufactures as well as imports the number and origin of which vary considerably according to periods and areas. Methods and results are the object of a preliminary account which intents to define the state of researches.
