Abstract
A fumigation technique using aluminum phosphide in the form of Phostoxin was developed for controlling live-wood inhabiting termites of the tea plant. This method is likely to have wide applicability in controlling termites infesting other perennial crops, timber and forest trees, and also in eliminating termite colonies found in enclosed habitats. Good results were also obtained with ethylene dibromide, trichlorobenzene and dichlorvos. Ethylene dibromide and trichlorobenzene need further investigation, particularly from the phytotoxicity point of view.
