Part 1: Disinfection of contaminated motion picture films and magnetic tapes was carried out in sealed metal cans, having at the bottom and at the lid filter paper discs soaked with 2.5per thousand of 4-chloro-3-cresol dissolved in 96per thousand ethanol. The contamination surface of audiovisual recordings may be cleaned with well-squeezed soft cloth moistened with 4-chloro-3-cresol dissolved in 96per thousand ethanol. The contaminated bobbins (spools or reels) may be treated in the same way. Disinfection of air in store rooms was carried out by using 1 or 2per thousand of 4-chloro-3cresol in 96per thousand ethanol solution to the amount of 1 g of the microbiocide on m³. Part 2: Different species of fungi destroying black-and-white photographic prints were isolated and partly identified. Photographic prints can be protected against microflora by immersing prints for 3 minutes in 1per thousand water solution of Hyamine 1622 or 0.5per thousand water solution of sodium salt of 4-chloro-3-cresol. The solutions should be prepared in distilled water.
