Abstract
Field-work on a 17th century whaling station at Red Bay, Labrador, by the Conservation Division of Parks, Canada, provides information on the packaging and transport of waterlogged organic artifacts. A wide range of packaging materials and how they are employed are discussed, and techniques for temporary tank storage of bulk finds are described. Recording, labelling and marking are also mentioned, and the article concludes with a section on preparations for transport of finds back to the laboratories. -- AATA
