Four Yortan vases in the National Museum in Prague were acquired through the commerce in two pairs (here nos. 1-2 and 3-4) which are of different style and manufacture; they are not contemporary and probably come from different centres. The analogies for the suspension amphoras 1 and 3 are given in the notes 7-9 (note 7 esp. for no. 1, notes 8-9 for both), for the jug no. 3 see in the notes 10-11, and for the neckless suspension vessel no. 4 in notes 12-15. No detailed chronology of the Yortan culture has been published as yet, but judging from the parallels from the Early Bronze Age levels of Troy nos. 1-2 are earlier, they seem to belong to the classical stage, whereas nos. 3-4 are manneristic and late. The latter are also cruder in their fabric. Some other vessels, however, appear to be still more manneristic in their shape. Together with the Trojan pottery fragments in the Orlik castle collection, the four Yortan vases published here are best representatives of West Anatolian Bronze Age pottery in Czechoslovak collections.
