A new approach for the absolute determination of annual gamma ray dose rates in archaeological sites has already been put forward (Liritzis and Galloway, 1980). Stimulated by this technique, deductions have been made concerning a) the relative gamma responses of various phosphori in four radioactively doped soils, and b) the seasonal variations of gamma ray dose rates in peat. -- AATA
